A Decline in Substack Subscribers 🫢Earnings Report 12/23/24
I saw a decline in subscribers after putting out the first earnings report.
Holy cow, do you all hate me or something? I saw a total decline of 3 subscribers to my Substack after putting out the first earnings report yesterday despite generating 45 new views.
That was… disheartening.
However, I am going to forge ahead as I believe that this is one of the best ways that I can communicate with you all on a more routine basis about my earnings and my journey.
Let’s get right into the numbers:
Earnings: $112.90 (+$2.61)
Follower Count: 5,223 (+14 since yesterday, +296 in December)
Reads: 887
Read Ratio: 55.43% (-1.9% since yesterday)
EPR: $0.1280 (-$0.0002 since yesterday)
Stories Posted: 29 (+1 since yesterday)
Average Earnings Per Story: $3.89 (-$0.04 since yesterday)
Rough and bumpy times, huh? Well, I can’t say that I am terribly surprised. It was a Sunday after all, and it is the Sunday right before Christmas, so that’s also a factor here.
That said, I always want to be completely transparent with you, and that’s why I am doing my best to report out when times are tough as well.
Tip of the Day:
One way that I have been able to find stories that interest me more quickly is to follow a number of tags that mean something to me.
Right now, I follow tags such as:
Anxiety
Autism
Medium Partner Program
New Writers
Stock Market
This serves two purposes. The first is that I am able to see the kinds of stories that I want to see more easily than I would have otherwise.
The second is that Medium will automatically populate the kinds of stories that it thinks I would like to see from those categories for me. This means that I am sometimes able to give a little love to some stories that have been buried with the passage of time.
Don’t forget to add your own interests and categories to your home screen so you can do the same!
